Shovakalula Project

On the 19th of March 2009 it was the ceremonial handover of 200 bicycles that were donated by the Department of Roads and Public Transport to Metsweding to distribute to rural schools’ learners around the district who travel 5km or more from and to school. This is part of Shovakalula projects pioneered by the Department of Transport. Fourteen schools were identified within the district and 160 bicycles were distributed. Forty bicycles are still remaining which will also be distributed to needy students.
